Target group

Work environment representatives, specialists, council members, middle managers and employers who themselves fulfil the duties of a work environment specialist in their institution, company or unit.

The organisation of occupational health and safety in a company is regulated by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (new version as of 01.07.2023). This occupational health and safety training is designed according to the procedure for occupational health and safety training and refresher training, which was established by the Ministry of Social Affairs on 22.11.2018 with regulation No. 50, “The Procedure for Training and Continuing Education of Work Environment Representatives, Work Environment Council Members and First Aid Providers in Continuing Education Institutions.”

Objectives

  • Occupational Health and Safety Act. Legal requirements – EU directives, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Relation to the Employment Contracts Act (ECA), Public Service Act (PSA), and Law of Obligations Act (LOA). Scope of the OHSA.
  • State activities in the field of occupational safety and health.
  • State supervision (administrative procedure); application of misdemeanor liability in occupational safety and health.
  • Organisation of occupational health and safety activities in the company. Employer’s preventive measures in the workplace. Employee information and involvement.
  • The role of work environment specialists, representatives and councils – appointment/election and duties.
  • First aid organisation in the company.
  • Employee and employer obligations, rights and responsibilities.
  • Organising and registering employee instruction and training.
  • Action in case of accident risk and incidents. Workplace accidents. Investigation and registration of workplace accidents.
  • Investigation and notification of work-related illnesses and occupational diseases.
  • Requirements for workplaces and work equipment.
  • Physical (including radon in the workplace), chemical, biological, physiological and psychosocial hazards. The impact of hazards on health.
  • Risk assessment, including hazard identification and measurement of their parameters; assessment of health risks caused by hazards, and planning actions to prevent or reduce health risks.
  • Impact of hazards on health. Ergonomics. Workplace adaptation. Organization of health check-ups and other occupational health services.
  • Considering employee risk groups (minors, pregnant women, disabled employees) in the work environment.
