Target group

The training is open to both those who have already encountered symptoms of burnout and those who wish to learn preventive techniques to avoid such problems in the future.

Objectives

The aim of the training is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to apply mindfulness techniques in their daily lives in order to better manage tension and stress, thereby preventing burnout.

Topics covered

The workshop is based on the practice of mindfulness. What is mindfulness? In Estonian, several terms are used for it, such as “teadvelolek” and “ärksameelsus”. It involves meditation-based exercises that help (re)discover peace of mind and contentment. It also includes observing thoughts without criticism, being in touch with oneself and accepting things as they are.

  • Mindfulness primarily means attention and awareness, which are universal human qualities. It is also the art of living consciously!
  • Practicing these mindfulness exercises helps a person stay present in the moment, notice and accept what is happening, observe with curiosity and be kind to themselves.
  • Long-term practice of mindfulness exercises improves mood, as well as the sense of well-being and happiness.
  • When we approach mindfulness openly, without focusing on what we like or dislike, and let go of opinions, prejudices, assumptions and expectations, new possibilities open up.
  • As a result of practicing mindfulness exercises, we gain clearer insight into the aspects of our lives that we have lost touch with.
  • The spread of mindfulness practice was initiated by John Kabat-Zinn through his writings and lectures. He is a scientist, author, meditation teacher and researcher of mindfulness, as well as an emeritus professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His pioneering research on alleviating chronic pain and stress-related health conditions through meditation has earned numerous awards and contributed to the integration of meditation techniques into medicine and psychology.
